Recognizing the value of student voices when creating programs impacting them, the purpose of the UW Dialogue Initiative Underraduate Advisory Council (UAC) is to provide a mechanism for student representatives and leaders to support and provide advice necessary for the Initiative's success.
The UAC will advise UW Dialogue Initiative program staff on issues pertaining to dialogue on campus, including identifying and reviewing tools and approaches that encourage UW students to engage in productive dialogue across differences.
The Advisory Council may also provide feedback on existing or prior methods of engagement, programs, and efforts for effectiveness and appropriateness among UW students. Additionally, the UAC may be used to explore and pilot possible engagement techniques, curricula, programs, events, or other ideas aimed at achieving the UW Dialogue Initiative’s mission.

Students serving on the UW Dialogue Initiative Undergraduate Advisory Council will have a meaningful role in steering the University’s approach to creating a campus climate and environment that supports and encourages dialogue across differences. UAC input and feedback will be used to structure and modify programs and events offered on campus, including elements of new and transfer student Advising & Orientation.
Undergraduate Advisory Council members will be compensated with a $50.00 Husky Card award each quarter ($150.00 for the academic year), excluding those who are serving as representatives of another on-campus organization that compensates their participation in this group.
The Undergraduate Advisory Council is open to currently enrolled University of Washington Seattle undergraduate students. UAC composition will consist of representation from:
The UW Dialogue Initiative Undergraduate Advisory Council will hold two regular meetings per quarter during the academic year in the second and seventh weeks of each quarter. Regular meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Additionally, optional events, receptions, or professional development opportunities may be offered outside of regular meetings throughout the year.
Undergraduate Advisory Council members are expected to attend and participate in all regularly-scheduled Advisory Council meetings throughout the academic year. To participate, UAC members are expected to review any documents, resources, or materials before each meeting.
Students unable to attend a regular meeting are expected to seek an excused absence with the UW Dialogue Initiative Program Manager and identify an alternative time to meet and discuss missed Advisory Council business or another suitable and comparable method of engagement that supports the UW Dialogue Initiative’s efforts on campus.
An unexcused absence or failure to arrange an alternative meeting or form of engagement will result in a forfeiture of compensation for that quarter. Absences totaling more than 25% of all regular meetings, whether excused or unexcused, may result in dismissal from the Undergraduate Advisory Council.
