LiveWell, the University of Washington’s student well-being and peer education program, is offering students a powerful new resource for navigating challenging conversations: the Huskies Don’t Cancel workshop. This peer-led session is designed to help students engage with curiosity, communicate across differences, and remain in conversation even when topics feel uncomfortable.
As part of LiveWell’s ongoing commitment to peer connection and community care, the workshop provides a structured space for Huskies to practice the skills essential to meaningful dialogue, supporting student success, belonging, and well-being. “Huskies Don’t Cancel” is one of several dialogue-oriented resources available to the UW community.
Many students report feeling hesitant to speak openly out of concern that their thoughts might be misinterpreted or dismissed. LiveWell created the Huskies Don’t Cancel workshop in response to this growing need for supportive, judgment-free spaces where students can explore difficult topics with confidence. The campaign’s core commitment is simple: We stay in the conversation. We stay curious. We stay connected. Through posters, educational materials, and peer-facilitated programming, LiveWell is helping normalize the idea that disagreement is not a barrier to belonging; it’s an opportunity to learn.
Facilitated by trained Peer Health Educators, the Huskies Don’t Cancel workshop equips students with practical strategies for handling high-stakes or emotionally charged conversations. Participants explore:
Each session is interactive and student-centered, making space for real examples, skill practice, and shared reflection.
Beyond workshops, LiveWell also offers Peer Wellness Coaching, a free, one-on-one resource that supports students through communication challenges, conflict navigation, and emotional well-being. Coaches help students:
This coaching complements the workshop by offering individualized guidance and accountability.
Dialogue is not just a campus value; it’s a life skill. Through initiatives like Huskies Don’t Cancel, LiveWell is helping students strengthen their communication, deepen their self-awareness, and contribute to healthier, more connected communities. For UW students, these skills support academic success, relationship-building, leadership development, and personal well-being. For the broader campus community, they help cultivate an environment where diverse perspectives can coexist with respect and care.
